Attributed to Louis II of BOULLOGNE (1654-1733) Portrait... - Lot 40 - Daguerre
Attributed to Louis II of BOULLOGNE (1654-1733) Portrait of Jean Louis Arnault adviser and secretary to the king, treasurer general of the extraordinary of the Wars Web. Ancient restorations. 140 x 106 cm Jean-Louis Arnault (circa 1160-before June 1707), who became a general farmer in 1702. Provenance: Château de Chacenay (Aube), kept in the same family. Bibliography: The Sires and Barons of Chacenay by Abbé Lalore, Troyes, Librairie Léopold Lacroix, 1885 (with inversion of attribution between the two portraits of the couple). The attribution to Louis de Boullogne has been handed down through family tradition. An alternative proposal to return this painting to Nicolas Fouché has been suggested.
