Max Claudet (1840-1893) and Julie Claudet (1847-1932) - Lot 56
Max Claudet (1840-1893) and Julie Claudet (1847-1932) The birth of the Lison Polychrome earthenware dish, decorated with flowers and fishes. Signed and titled. Accidents. 55 x 44 cm Max and Julie Claudet signed many common pieces. Max, who was introduced to ceramics by his wife, was in charge of the creation while Julie was in charge of applying the different shades. It is interesting to relate the subject of this dish to Gustave Courbet's La source du Lison, close to the Claudet family. Max Claudet was indeed his travelling companion in the Jura.
