Attributed to Jean Baptiste Claude ROBIN (Paris 1734 - Choucy 1818) Portrait of a lady in St Catherine Oval canvas. Small dent and missing. Bottom left: Robin incipit (?) 1787 and faciebat 1794. 65 x 54 cm Frameless. As a student of the Dean, Robin had a distinguished career... history and portrait painter under the Ancien Diet, receiving numerous orders for churches, or monumental decorations such as the hall of the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux. His portrait the best known of the revolutionary period is the Portrait of Lally-Tollendal (Vizille, Musée de la Révolution) French).
