A pair of silver torches and their bobbins by Claude Jean Dupont, Paris 1755-56 Contour model with oval mouldings and interlacing twisted ribs, the shaft with sides and shells. Engraved on the base and on the wicks of coats of arms, surmounted on the base by a marquis's crown. A wick from 1757. H. 27 cm Weight 1,457 kg Master silversmith Claude Jean Dupont dit Ride. Coat of arms of the Benoît de Lostende family: azure with a chevron of gold, accompanied by three blessing hands of silver. Jean Baptiste Benoît de Lostende, general inspector of the Limousin stud farms (1710-1782).
