ARKHANGUELSKY near Moscow (Youssoupoff factory), 19th century, 1826 Large ovoid chocolate cup with high handle and its saucer in porcelain with polychrome decoration of the profile of the sar Nicolas I in imitation of the bas-relief in the antique in a medallion encircled with gold under the inscription August 22, 1826 in burnished gold on matt gold, and decorated in gold with garlands of foliage, flowers, fleurons and stars on an almond green background, gold braid on the rim, the interior of the cup and the handle gilded in burnished gold. In the center of the saucer the inscription offered to his Excellency Monseigneur Le comte de la Ferronnays Ambafsadeur de France Archangelski 1826 in gold. The cup marked: Archangelski 1826 in gold. Manufacture of Youssoupoff. A chip to the upper edge of the cup, shock to the cup and a crack to the saucer. H. 9,6 cm and D. 15,8 cm Pierre-Louis-Auguste Ferron de La Ferronnay was French ambassador to Denmark in 1817 and then to St. Petersburg between 1820 and 1827 before being appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs.
