A Transitional period rectangular veneered flat desk stamped Montigny and JME circa 1765-70 Decorated with Greek fillet on a rosewood background and framed with lemon tree fillets. It opens with two drawers and stands on sheath feet. Rich ornamentation of chased and gilded bronzes. Damage and missing parts H. 76 W. 113,5 D. 57 cm Philippe Claude Montigny received master in 1766. A stamped desk was delivered to the Count of Conventry on March 12, 1765 by Poirier and called "bureau à la grecque". reproduced in Alexandre Pradère, Les ébénistes français, ed. du Chêne 1989, p. 306.
