Provenance : castle of la Bourbansais, Brittany.
According to an unfounded family tradition, this car was lent by the Princess of Lamballe, a friend of Queen Marie-Antoinette, to her confessor, the Abbé de la Coninais, so that the latter could flee Paris. He abandoned the carriage near Dinan before returning to England where he died three years later.
