Christ dates from 1691. These works were created to adorn the marble high altar designed by the sculptor
Girardon for the church of Saint-Jean-au-Marché in Troyes. In 1692, the sculptor created a second version of the
two medallions with the profiles of the Virgin and her Son to decorate the altar of the Holy Ciborium of the same church.
The works of the high altar are then molded in terra cotta in 1707 to decorate the church of Saint-Nicolas
of Troyes. More than these three versions, it is the two profiles preserved in the sacristy of the parish church
