Rectangular flat desk in veneer stamped Montigny and JME of the Transition period, circa 1765-70 Decorated with Greek fillets on a rosewood background and framed with lemon tree fillets. It opens to two drawers and rests on sheath feet. Rich ornamentation of chased and gilded bronzes. Accidents and missing parts H. 76 L. 113,5 D. 57 cm Philippe Claude Montigny received master in 1766. A stamped desk was delivered to the Count of Conventry on March 12, 1765 by Poirier and called "bureau à la grecque" reproduced in Alexandre Pradère, Les ébénistes français, éd. du Chêne 1989, p. 306.
