Genealogical history of the branches of the house of Béthune, existing in Flanders and Artois, and known for several centuries under the name of Planques [] to serve as a supplement to the Genealogy of the house of Béthune, drawn up by André du Chesne []. Paris, 1783-[1818]. 2 parts in one volume in-folio, IV-VII p., [1] tabl. p. [1]-[57], [1] pl. p.59-161, [1] f. ; [1] f., p.1-269 (with bis), modern full red cloth binding, author and title gilt on spine [Y. Vandyck-Papaert à Ixelles] (stains on p.III-IV, qq. ff. browned). Unique edition of this work whose publication was interrupted several times. It is one of the very first books illustrated with portraits engraved with the physionotrace, brilliant technique implemented by Chrétien and Quenedey. The book contains 17 portraits in the text. The illustration is completed by a folding plate engraved on copper, and blazons also engraved on copper in the text. The text includes genealogical tables, and one of them is outside the text. A carefully prepared copy, including the two cartoons on pages 108 and 164, as well as a seal under paper mounted opposite the title. (Saffroy III, 36365).
