In Paris, by the Company, 1754. 2 vols. in-8, [8] f., 319 p., + [2] f., 299 p., front, pl., contemporary marbled havana calf, spine with 5 nerves, garnet colored title and greef, ornamented boards, red edges (rubbing, dull corners, 1 uncovered cap, stains on the boards, 1 white guard missing), 1 false title cut in the margin, small tear on pl.1, 1 white cover, one false title cut in the margin, small tear on pl.1, another stained without gravity, sporadic light wetness at the head of t.1, 1 folding plate torn and repaired).
New edition of this famous manual, which describes the health of the horse as well as its maintenance, training and equestrian evolutions. The illustration consists of a portrait of the author engraved by Thomassin after Toquet, a frontispiece engraved by B. Audran after Charles Parrocel (1688-1752), and 33 plates, 4 of which are folding, mostly after Parrocel. Engraved band with the arms of Charles de Lorraine at the head of the dedication.
