[Manuscrit]. [Gastronomie]. 2 volumes
[Manuscript]. [Gastronomy]. Book of recipes. S.l., s.d., [Touraine ?, ca. 1870]. In-12 (h = 17,5cm.), [4]-108-[1] p., f. 109-116, [2] f. not numbered (endpapers included), bound in contemporary black soft basane, marbled edges, (binding rubbed). Collection of about a hundred culinary recipes, preceded by a list of suppliers' addresses (in Paris, Marseille, Lorient, Toulon, Bordeaux). Neat manuscript, written in ink on both sides, with at the end a table covering 5 numbered pages. Most probably written in Touraine, on a notebook bearing the label of the Georget-Joubert bookstore of Tours, active in the 1870s. Among the recipes are those for Brillat-Savarin's pheasant Saint Alliance, sole normande, chicken with tarragon, and, for pastries, almond pudding and chocolate soufflé. The manuscript has been enriched by another hand. Attached on a loose leaf is a handwritten recipe for "Plum Cake from Auvergne". It is joined : NOUVEAU (LE) cuisinier royal et bourgeois. Volume II [only]. In Paris, at C. Prudhomme, 1716. In-12, [1] f. (title), 496 p., [15] f., contemporary tan basane, spine with 5 nerves, red edge, (defects and accidents, white marks on the binding, light angular wetness on the first f., corner missing in the margin page 217). That is to say 2 volumes.
