[MARNE (Louis-Antoine de)]. The Old and New Testaments represented in five hundred paintings engraved after the designs of Raphael & other great masters. In Paris, by Claude Hérissant and Guillaume Desprez, 1759. In-folio, contemporary fawn calf, spine with 6 nerves, ornamented caissons, red title-piece, triple fillet and angular fleurons on the boards, gilt edges (spine split, top board scratched, headpieces and corners dulled; some browning; nudity masked with ink wash). Beautiful illustration of biblical episodes composed of 500 figures engraved on copper by Louis-Antoine de Marne (1673-1755). Each plate has two captioned figures, which are numbered from 1 to 328 and then 1 to 172; figures 21 and 328 are full page. New edition of this suite which first appeared in 1728.
