Transitional period chased and gilt bronze... - Lot 137 - Daguerre
Transitional period chased and gilt bronze clock by Osmond. The dial and the movement are signed Gros in Paris, decorated with a square fluted column supporting the dial topped by a knot. It rests on a square base flanked by two winged bears resting on a triangular base decorated with a musical trumpet and finished by foliated feet. H. 49,5 L. 33,5 D. 21,5 cm Philippe Gros received master in Paris in 1765, installed rue Dauphine. Provenance: former collection of Jean, marquis de Lastic at the castle of Parentignat. A clock with a different top signed by Osmond is reproduced in Vergoldete Bronzen volume 1, p. 195, number 3.12.7.
