Hyacinthe RIGAUD (Perpignan, 1659 - Paris, 1743) Portrait of Jean Antoine II de Mesmes, Count of Avaux (1640-1709) Oval canvas. Old restorations. 81 x 65 cm Without frame. Councillor at the Parliament of Paris since 1661, Jean Antoine II de Mesmes became Master of Requests in 1667. During his career, he was ambassador of France to several countries such as Italy in 1672, Holland in 1678-1689 Holland in 1678-1689, England in 1689-1690 and Sweden in 1693-1697). At the death of his brother in 1688, Jean Antoine II de Mesmes received the office of provost and grand master of ceremonies of the king's orders.
