Molded and carved wood chair by Jean Baptiste Boulard from the Louis XVI period. With a flat back, it rests on a fluted and filleted base joined by a strut. Stamped C.L on one of the uprights. H. 93 W. 51 D. 47 cm This model of chair is found in the royal houses often executed by Boulard or Séné (cf. Musée Carnavalet, Forray Carlier, 2000, p. 200 and following. The mark CL can be found on cannon mounts with the royal arms (Christie's Paris sale n°178, 24 Nov 2020)
