Georges Jacob received master in 1765.
In 1699, the county of Châteauvillain was bought, together with the marquisate of Arc by Louis de Bourbon,
Count of Toulouse. The duchy then passed to his son, the Duke of Penthièvre, and then in 1769 to Louise de Bourbon
(1753-1821), duchess of Orleans.
In the 17th century, the castle was built in the courtyard of the medieval castle in 1627 by Nicolas de L'Hospital, duke
de Vitry (captain of the guards of Louis XIII). This castle was partially destroyed in the 19th century to make the current main street of the city in 1835.
