This is one of the first statuettes marketed by the Susse company. This young company, in the 1840s, was still only a publisher and subcontracted the casting of statuettes. There are contracts of edition between Susse and certain artists like Etienne Mélingue, Gabriel-Jules Thomas or like here James Pradier. The badly stamped seal is one of the very first seals affixed by the house Susse
