In-4, [12] f., 754 p., contemporary granite brown calf, 5-nerved spine, gilt title, ornate caissons, gilt roulette at the edges, red speckled edges (head cover uncovered, 2 corners worn, moderate worm damage on a nerve and at the foot of the upper spine, upper guard missing, light spotting on the title and in some margins, browning, small mack. in the margins on pp.211, 295, 649). Second French edition, revised and corrected by the translator (Charles d'Albert, duc de Luynes) and enlarged with a version of a letter from Descartes to the R. P. Dinet, and of the Seventh Objections and their answers (by Claude Clerselier). Wood-engraved headbands, lettering and endpapers.
