Jean Baptiste Jules DEHAUSSY (1812-1891) Portraits of Mr. and Mrs. Jean-Pierre GARREAU. Oil on canvas. Oval. 74 x 60 cm (both). In stuccoed and gilded wood frames. Jean-Pierre GARREAU (1803-1896) was an urban planner and architect from Nantes. He contributed to the construction of the districts of La Monnaie, Gigant, Launay, Vallées, La prairie-aux-ducs, the Passage d'Orléans, various townhouses and the "Folies Garreau". He was also entrusted with the renovation of Nantes' Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul cathedral.
