Drawing pasted in full, insolate 24.6 x 32.7 cm Léon Bonvin is an artist who has recently been brought back into the limelight, notably by the very fine exhibition proposed by the Fondation Custodia in 2022. Our drawing may be compared with his early works (1850s), characterized by a sober use of black stone and pencil (see Maud Guichané and Gabriel P. Weisberg, Léon Bonvin, 1834- 1866, Une poésie du réel, Paris, Fondation Custodia, 2022).
