Pair of cabriolet armchairs in molded and carved wood, stamped G. Jacob, Louis XVI period. With horseshoe-shaped back, whiplash-shaped armrests, resting on tapered, fluted and grooved legs. Delivery label: Made Doriny. H. 91 W. 61 D. 53 cm Georges Jacob received his master's degree in 1765. Most probably made for the wife of Mr. Anne Claude Dorigny, née Marie Lalourcé. Mr. Dorigny was a regent doctor at the Paris Faculty of Medicine. They married in 1762. The couple lived on rue des Fossés Monsieur le Prince (now rue Monsieur-le-Prince).
