In-folio, [6] f., 578 p., index n.c., contemporary speckled havana basane, 5-rib spine, gilt title and fillets, gilt fillet edging the covers (flaws including spotted covers, mq. lower guard, russeting and browning).
Commentary on the book of Hippocrates, accompanied by the Greek text and its Latin translation by Louis Duret (1527-1586), professor at the Collège de France (from 1568 to 1586) and physician to kings Charles IX and Henri III.
Provenance: Bonifax (Bugey; armorial bookplate painted on front cover); 2 early handwritten bookplates on title, one of which is Pierre Bonifax, physician; other ms. bookplate dated 1660 crossed out on one endpaper.
