Suite of two chairs, a bergère and an armchair in molded and carved wood, grey lacquered, from the Palais de Fontainebleau, Empire period. Square-backed, resting on sword-sheath front legs decorated with palmettes, and saber-shaped back legs. FON iron markings and three fleurs-de-lis in an oval, inventory numbers in black and red ink from the Palais de Fontainebleau during the Restoration (bergère: F13208, F7798, F14373 fauteuil: F13210, F7799, F14374 - chairs: F13211, F7800, F14375). H. 95 W. 68 D. 62 cm H. 94 W. 62 D. 54 cm In 1817, in salon no. 20 of the Ministers' wing, are listed under numbers F13208, F13210 and F13211, a bergère, four armchairs and four chairs "in carved wood, painted gray, rechambered in matt white, front legs saber front legs", which certainly included our seat suite. Under number F13209 was a stool from the same set (AN, AJ/19/248/1). A pair of similar armchairs, more richly carved, also from Fontainebleau under the Restoration, was sold at Daguerre, 27/05/2011, lot 237. A more sober cabriolet armchair, inventoried in 1816 in Fontainebleau, is kept at the Mobilier national (inv. GME-1689-001).
