[Manuscript]. [Sarthe]. Plan terrier de La Gidonnière. 18th - Lot 12
[Manuscript]. [Sarthe]. Plan terrier de La Gidonnière. 18th century. Very large broadsheet volume (65 x 51 x 10 cm.), formerly bound, stitched on 6 nerves (the cover has entirely disappeared and the boards are destroyed; the plans have been well preserved and show only a few foxing and soiling, qq. frayed edges; that of La Chartre is the most stained with light wetness).
Important and spectacular document offering a detailed view of the land around the La Gidonnière estate, located a few kilometers north of La Chartre-sur-le-Loir.
It comprises 46 handwritten, watercolored and captioned plans on heavy paper. Plan number 17 is probably missing.
Each plan is laminated on gray cloth (partly unstuck), mounted on parchment mounts; each measures approx. 65 x 97 cm, including margins.
The first plate features a plan of the town of La Chartre [sur-le-Loir]. Plan no. 5, "de Rougerais Grande et Petite Pinquetiève" bears the date 1766. Plan no. 39 reads "Chenou fecit 1765".
The plots are elegantly depicted, and captioned with great precision. In this way, you can see the locations of all kinds of buildings, and easily discover the use to which a particular piece of land might have been put.
Attached is a 19th-century manuscript document entitled "Terre de la Gidonnière" (an in-folio notebook), which provides information on the surface area of each parcel, its value and the crops grown on it.
