BOLIVAR (1932–2017) - Lot 14
BOLIVAR (1932–2017) Untitled, 1991 Watercolor gouache, signed and dated lower left 75 x 56 cm A native of Uruguay, where he was born in 1932, Bolivar arrived in France in 1963 and died there in 2017. Influenced by European Cubists and Constructivists, he followed in the footsteps of his compatriots Torres-Garcia and Arden Quin. He thus abandoned the traditional square or rectangular format. But above all, he was a master of color. He loved to play with warm colors, skillfully handling muted tones and blending them into the most delicate harmonies. Regularly exhibited in France and abroad, Bolivar’s work is part of the collection of the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris and the Fonds National d’Art Contemporain. Several of his graphic works are held at the Bibliothèque Nationale de Paris and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Value: 200€ DONATED BY A PRIVATE COLLECTOR
