Carte du Canal ou de la Manche depuis son entrée dans l'Océan Atlantique, aux isles d'Ouessant et de Scilly, jusqu'à la Mer d'Allemagne et au Détroit de Douvres, ou Pas de Calais. Engraved by Glot. One copper-engraved map, colored, approx. 76 x 109 cm, canvas-backed, folded 20 x 14 cm. in original salmon-colored cardboard slipcase, gilt edges, title on blue paper (slipcase worn). Beautiful, decorative and highly detailed map of the coasts represented, adorned with an elegant title cartouche at top left, and including 3 cartons at bottom right showing the Channel Islands. The author may be Jacques Clermont (1752-1827), engineer-geographer from Savoy, cf. Tooley, Dictionary of mapmakers, 1979, p. 120.
