Provenance : former German collection. Acquired on the German art market (Stuttgart).
This tile with the typical decoration of the productions of Damascus presents a floral decoration painted in cobalt and turquoise
on a white slip. It represents a bouquet of composite flowers on a white background in a central medallion
surrounded by white and turquoise floral scrolls on a cobalt background.
A tile of the same group, with similar decoration and dated 1580-1600, is published in Arthur Millner's reference book, op. cit. fig. 6.69, p. 273).
