(table), contemporary brown calf, spine with 6 nerves (boards chipped, binding restored; small burnt hole and light wetness in margin of front board; mq. 1 corner p. 253-4 affecting qq. letters). Expanded second edition of this important treatise aimed at establishing a new codification for figuring coats of arms. The illustration consists of a frontispiece drawn and engraved by Greg. Huret, a copper-engraved band with the arms of the dedicatee the marquis de Louvois, a full-page engraving with the arms of the author, a second frontispiece opposite the first leaf of the text, and numerous figures of coats of arms engraved on copper in the text. Stamps of Jesuit colleges in the margin of the frontispiece and title, dry stamp on the false title. Old handwritten bookplate Claude Guchin.
