Pair of mahogany and mahogany veneer corners stamped J. Bircklé and JME, from the Louis XVI period, delivered to the Controller General in Versailles. With fluted and roughened uprights, they rest on tapered legs finished with bronze rings. Stamped W and in ink For the service of the Controller General in Versailles. Roughly moulded white marble top. H. 79.5 P. 41 cm Jacques Bircklé received master in 1764. Delivered in 1786 to Charles Alexandre de Calonne, Comptroller General of Finances . The seats by Séné and Boulard (formerly at the Mobilier national (Verlet, Mobilier royal français, Picard, 1992 T. 2 n°33 and 34) now deposited at Versailles (see Le château de Versailles raconte le Mobilier national, exhibition, château de Versailles 2010-2011 p. 157 à 161).
