Mahogany desk from the Palais des Tuileries, Restoration or Empire period
rests on tapered feet with a ring, opens with three drawers in the belt and two pulls on the sides.
bears the following antique inventory numbers TU 14886, TMIE 219 (twice), MIN 4490, 55226 set in black stencil and the following antique ink inscription on the lock of the left drawer of a desk/mahogany
servant/ in the large vestib[ule].

The desk appears on the inventory of the furniture of the Palais des Tuileries drawn up in 1833 under no. 14886 on the object:
" Service général 14886 Three flat mahogany desks, double baluster legs, 3 drawers, black morocco top
gilded vignettes 1.30 50 150 " (AN, AJ19 177); two of them are found on the inventory of the Palais des
Tuileries of 1851 : "Suite de la 12e pièce, corridor noir sur le jardin 1590 Un bureau acajou, pieds à double
balustre, 3 tiroirs, dessus en basane verte, longueur 1,30 (14886) 50 ", " Suite de l'aile neuve, pavillon du centre,
ground floor courtyard side, 1st room 4418 A mahogany desk, turned legs, 3 drawers, black basane top,
rounded corners, length 1.30 (14886) " (AN, AJ19 187, AJ19 188) ; having escaped the Tuileries fire of
1871, the desk is again registered in the Garde-Meuble in 1878: "1878 By the Hotel des Pyramides and bonus
55226 1 mahogany flat desk 40 " (AN).
