Head raised, eyebrows furrowed and hand holding his cloak placed on his heart, Saint John, Jesus' favourite apostle, was standing at the foot of the cross.
stood at the foot of the cross. In a calm and inward-looking attitude, he reflects a modest pain,
only animated by the series of vertical folds and his long wavy hair. The slightly contrapposto attitude
and the slender, curved form of the material testify to the practice of a skilled artist, accustomed to working with ivory.
