Suite of six chairs stamped G. IACOB of Louis XVI period In molded and carved wood, with back and seat in horseshoe they rest on fluted and filleted feet. Delivery label. H. 92 L. 48 P. 46 cm George Jacob received master in 1765. Provenance: Jean-Bernard Le Blanc, born in Dijon in 1707, died in 1781, churchman and writer. He was also a lawyer at the Parliament of Paris. On the intervention of Madame de Pompadour and Tournehem, he was appointed historiographer of the King's Buildings in November 1749, just before the departure for the famous trip to Italy of Abel François Poisson whom he accompanied with Soufflot and Cochin. In the sale of his collection in 1781 one could find, among others, furniture by Boulle and vases mounted by Gouthière. On a label: M. Aubry, probably Etienne Aubry (1745-1781) portraitsite, who thanks to the protection of the Count of Angivilier went to Rome in 1777. A pair of armchairs, probably en suite, bearing this label was sold by Daguerre on November 10, 2016 #252.
