VIRGILE. P. Virgilii Maroni Opera Amstelodami, juxta exemplar parisinum, 1690, large in-4, old ivory vellum, smooth spine, decorated title painted on the spine, red edges (rubs and soiling without gravity, browning). Second edition for the use of the Dauphin, highly esteemed, given by Father Charles de La Rue, a great specialist of Virgil in the 17th century. The end of the volume contains the important Index vocabulorum omnium attributed to Simon-François de Lezeau. Illustrated with a frontispiece, a title vignette, a band with the arms of the Dauphin at the head of the dedicatory epistle and 4 bands, all engraved on copper.
