BOUCLE DE CEINTURE - Époque mérovingienne ou postérieure.
BELT BUCKLE in bronze with engraved and gilded plate. Oval buckle decorated with dentils, pin formed by two equidae heads leaning against each other; long plate formed by three compartments with geometric designs. Merovingian period or later. L. : 17 cm On a wooden mounting with inscriptions on the back: "Buckle found in the tomb of a knight in Montataire (Oise) March 1849." (Oxidation, visible missing parts and accidents). Gallic tombs were discovered in 1846 by workers who were constructing the railroad inaugurated by the Baron de Condé. Merovingian sarcophagi from the 5th/ 7th century are still visible around the Jubilee fountain in Montataire.
