Small old folio (205 x 295 mm), soft ivory vellum with small overlaps (pastiche binding). 366 ff. signed: a6, b-z8, &8, ?8, R8, A-V8. Text in Latin in round letters on one column (on for the last part, on two), with glosses inserted on the right in those on the left and on the left in those on the right. Texts established by Servius HONORATUS and Tiberius Claudius DONATIUS (end IVth c. - beginning Vth c.) and glosses by Antonio MANCINELLI, Christoforo LANDINO and Domitius CALDERINUS (XVth c. - beginning XVIth c.). Includes in fine (ff. R5 v° - V7 v°) several complementary texts of Virgil or his commentators of which the first is entitled: [VEGIO (Maffeo)]. Maphei Veggi Laudensis Poetæ clarissimi Liber Tertiusdecimus Additus duodecim æneidos libris. Numerous ornamented woodcuts (some of them large); large woodcuts painted in red and blue ink at the head of the books of the Georgics (ff. f1, i2 & n8 v°) and of the Aeneid (ff. q1, y4 v°, &6 v°, R8, B7 v°, F4 v°, H4 v°, R4, M1, N8); a few other woodcuts (notably in the last part) and paragraph marks painted in red and blue ink. Numerous handwritten inscriptions from the period, some in the margins, most between the lines of the glosses (mainly in the Eglogues 2 & 3 and some books of the Aeneid). Some foxing and faded leaves.
