[RESTIF de La BRETONNE (Nicolas Edme). [La Paysane-pervertie...] Les Dangers de la ville, ou A frightening and moral history of Ursula, known as the Pervert-Peasant [...]. At The Hague & in Paris, Chés le Libraire indicated in the Frontispiece of the I Part of the Paysan, 1784-1785. 8 parts in 4 volumes in-12, half brown morocco with corners, spine with ornamented nerves, gilt head (late 19th c. binding). ORIGINAL EDITION of La Paysanne pervertie. It bears a new title, pasted on each volume by the author, who had been forced by authority of justice to replace the old one which took back the name already used by Jean-Baptiste Nougaret in 1777: La Paysanne pervertie, or Les Moeurs des grandes villes, which Restif considered to belong to him as the author of Le Paysan perverti, published in 1776. This copy includes well in fine a "Table des Noms des Personages du Paysan & de la Paysane pervertis" (pp. 337 to 344), a " Revue des Ouvrages de l'Auteur " (pp. CLXIX to CCXLIV) and six non folio leaves. 34 hors-texte figures (out of 38), engraved after BINET, including eight title-frontispices. Freckles in volume III. Childs edges, 291 (2).
