Six parts in 3 volumes in-4, V p., [1] f., 192 p. ; [1] f., 266 p., [2] f. ; [1] blank f., [3] f., 263 p. + [4] f., 278-80 p. + VIII-167 p. ; [1] f., 279 p., [2] f., frontispiece engraved on copper by Fessard after Blakey, contemporary marbled havana calf, headpieces restored, spine with 5 nerves, garnet and brown morocco title-piece, decorated boards, double gilt fillet at the edges, red edges (small tears at 2 headpieces and at the tail of one spine; wetness at the frontispiece, then sporadic, qq. ff. browned).
The most complete collective edition of Mirabeau's works. It contains in the original edition, the major texts that testify to the author's adherence to the physiocratic theories, composed after his meeting with Quesnay. They form parts 4, 5 and 6 of the collection; the first three parts contain the Ami des hommes, originally published in 1756, and here in a second edition.
Provenance: Mariette Auriol, from a family of merchants in Montauban, where a mansion bears that name (repeated stamp, "Cabinet de Mariette Auriol", 19th c.).
