[Nuremberg, Anton Koberger, 1493]. folio, [317] (out of 318) f., fig. in contemporary sow skin on wooden boards, spine with 4 nerves, boards decorated in cold, in the center of a set of phylacteries forming a cross and a semé of floral fleurons, then double framing of fleurons among which eagles in lozenges and evangelists in medallions, 4 letters or numbers at the foot of the upper board, one clasp (out of 2) (defects of use and accidents of which a corner gnawed, rubbing, worm work on the lower cover extending on the text from the end of the volume to the middle, touching qq. letters without gravity; wetness in the inner margins and footers, 1st ff. faded). Incunabula edition of the third part of this Bible commented by Nicolas de Lyre. Text on 2 columns with the gloss in a frame. It is illustrated with some woodcut figures, in particular for the chapter of Ezekiel where one finds a beautiful full-page composition. Waiting initials have been calligraphed in red at the beginning of the volume. Sign. A-Z 8, AA-PP 8, QQ 6, HH 7 (missing the last f. HH8, which appears to be blank according to the digitized copy of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek listed as 2 Inc.c.a. 2887 a-3). Passages formerly underlined on f. II., the watermark of a guard ironed in ink. Provenance: handwritten bookplate on the title of a convent of Friars Minor dated 1628 with mention of the name Philippus Kupfferschmidt.
