DELORMEL (Jean). La grande période, ou Le retour de l'âge d'or. A Paris, chez l'auteur, Desenne, Le Normant, Laurens, [1805].
DELORMEL (Jean). The great period, or The return of the golden age. In Paris, with the author, Desenne, Le Normant, Laurens, [1805]. In-8, [2] f., 451 p., fr., pl., contemporary fawn basane, smooth spine, piece of tite salmon, gilt fillets and fleurons, gilt roulette on the edges (minor defects including scratches on the boards, 2 dull corners). Third and last edition, revised and corrected by the author, of this curious work whose merits were praised by Stanislas de Guaita. According to Caillet, "It is undoubtedly the only initiatory work that brings to light the true doctrine of the ancient mysteries. The edition is illustrated with an aquatint portrait of the author by Roy as a frontispiece, and a copper-engraved plate with zodiac figures. Pages 440-441 contain a perpetual calendar. Bound at the end of the volume are two pieces by the same author that Caillet describes as rare: - Réfutation du système imaginé par les savans du dernier siècle contre la théorie de la Grande Période (28 p.), and : - Explication des prophéties de Daniel sous le rapport de la Grande Période (40 p.). They are preceded by a friendly Answer [of Delormel] to the editor of the Journal des débats (8 p.), by a Chronology of the Great Period (1 p.), and followed by the Letter of the author to Mr. Delalande and the Plan of a new calendar. (Caillet I, 2958, 2959, 2960, 2961, 2962).
