NORTH AFRICA, TOUAREG WORLD, 19th century JAMBIYYA KNIFE, curved steel blade engraved with an incomplete Arabic inscription on one side "Al-Salah Nafi' lil sa'ad wa [?] / The weapon is useful for happiness and [?]", chevrons on the other. Curved handle in carved bone engraved with circular motifs, a metal guard at the base. Curved scabbard with two suspension rings, sheathed with metal leaves at the ends and covered with brown velvet in the center. (rust and wear) Total length: 44.7 cm; blade length: 31 cm. A SMALL TOUAREG KNIFE with blade engraved with a chevron cartouche, engraved metal hilt and handle. (rust)
