Dedicated on the back and dated 1968. 35 x 27 cm Provenance: Jacques-Émile Blanche; by descent to the present owners. Berthe Noufflard, née Langweil, was the daughter of Florine Langweil, art dealer, collector and renowned specialist specialist in Far Eastern art. She regularly entertained Parisian celebrities and artists in her salon. It was here that Berthe met Jacques-Emile Blanche, and became his pupil. In 1907, she began exhibiting paintings, much inspired by her master's style, at the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts. In 1911, she married the painter André Noufflard. Berthe remained very close to Blanche, whom she often visited in Offranville. Blanche painted several portraits of the Langweil and Noufflard families.
