[Manuscript]. [Antiphonary, 18th c.]. Latin manuscript antip - Lot 1
[Manuscript]. [Antiphonary, 18th c.]. Latin manuscript antiphonary from the eighteenth century. In-8 (19.5 x 13 cm.), [2] blank f., [7] f. (movable feasts, calendar), 473 numbered pages, contemporary brown basane, 5-ribbed muted spine, red edges (binding very rubbed, corners dulled; sporadic wetness from inner margin, soiling and stains not serious, small holes in last 2 f., one lettering rubbed p.398), Manuscript in ink on paper, staves drawn in brown or violet, notation in black, text in red and black. The entire volume is ruled in red, most of the capitals painted in color, some enhanced with gold (gold often lacking), and a few decorated in an earlier style.
There is no title page; the calendar does not clearly reflect the place of origin of this manuscript, apart from two mentions of a church in "Vallis-Bonae" (dedication on November 7), possibly Valbonnais in the Dauphiné. Provenance: Congrégation des Oblats de Marie-Immaculée (stamp on endpapers).
