[Engraving]. [Ornamentalist]. FAY (Jean-Baptiste). Nouveau c - Lot 47
[Engraving]. [Ornamentalist]. FAY (Jean-Baptiste). Nouveau cahier d'arabesque à l'usage des artistes. A Paris, chez Mondhare [c. 1765]. 6 copper-engraved pieces, in sheets, at full margins, as issued; presented in a delivery cover from another 18th c. publication (pl.1 dusty in margin, pl. 2 a little yellowed). Rare complete suite of 6 plates, each containing 2 figures, drawn and engraved by J. B. Fay. Guilmard (Les maîtres ornemanistes, p.255-56) does not mention it under this title, but according to the BnF notice, it forms the third of the Cahiers d'arabesques published by Mondhare. The second plate is signed in point and dated 1765.
