(title, table and privil. on v°), 144-196 p., contemporary red glazed half-basane, smooth spine decorated with gilt foliate irons, gilt title, boards decorated with a double framing of gilt triple fillets, gilt filleting to the edges, restorations (spine faded and scuffed, jaws rubbed, flyleaf mack, light wetness to title and margins at beginning of vol. then sporadic, bookplate crossed out and margin missing p.1.First collective edition of five significant treatises of Christian stoicism: La philosophie morale des stoïques, Le manuel d'Épictète, Les réponses d'Épictète aux demandes de l'empereur Adrian, De la constance et consolation es calamitez publiques, the latter text forming the second half of the volume. Title page in copper-engraved frame, wood-engraved bands. Formerly underlined passages and a few annotations on the first part. Provenance: Gilbert Trouflaut, priest (handwritten ex-libris on title and biblio. note circa 1783), and most probably the author of the handwritten commentaries (USTC 6017146).
