In-8, [16] f., 692 p., contemporary fawn calf, 4-nerved spine, blond title-piece, ornate caissons, double gilt fillet north of covers, gilt arms in center (flaws including uncovered head-pieces, split jaws; ink-browned paper, light aurora at head of entire vol. small sporadic worm-work in margin). Rare first edition of this entertaining collection of short stories. A second part appeared in 1643. Provenance: Louis-Jean-Marie de Bourbon, Duc de Penthièvre (1725-1793), Grand Admiral of France, only son of the Count of Toulouse, whose library he continued (stamped arms); library of King Louis-Philippe at the Palais-Royal (stamp on title).
