In-12, [4] f., 198 p., [5] f., contemporary mottled havana calf, 5-ribbed spine, red title page, ornate caissons, gilt roulette at the edges, red edges (worm's tracery at the tail of the lower spine, one corner worn; browning, margins gnawed, 2 repaired on pp.95-105 and 177-188, margin repair on pp.97-99, plate trimmed at foot). New edition of this treatise, which Vauban himself had approved as early as 1691. It is illustrated with numerous copper-engraved figures in the text, including 2 full-page ones, and a fold-out plate, all engraved on copper.
