In-8, XVI-461 p., old modest brown basane with flap, smooth muted spine, cold fillets (binding slightly rubbed with tear to upper cover, inside flap lined with modern adhesive cloth, book 6 bound between pp.128 and 129, rubbed faux-tittre, mq. lower flyleaf, stains and foxing). Second edition, not cited by Vicaire, who mentions the 1803 original. Slipped inside the upper cover of the binding is a long sheet of hand-graduated paper, and a handwritten page from the period giving the recipe for white nougat (Vicaire 545). Enclosed: [Gastronomie]. [MASSIALOT (François)]. Nouvelle instruction pour les confitures, les liqueurs et les fruits... avec la manière de bien ordonner un fruit. Continuation of the Nouveau cuisinier royal et bourgeois... Nouvelle édition, revue, corrigée et beaucoup augmentée... A Paris, chez C. Prudhomme, 1726. In-12, [6] f., 508 p., [14] f., pl., contemporary brown calf, 5-ribbed spine, Havana morocco title-piece, ornate caissons (binding stained and spotted, flaws including worm tracery at head of spine, one corner and one cut very worn, lower endpaper mackled, stain extended to limin. ff., one corner missing from margin of one pl, Illustrated edition with 3 woodcut folding plates, as announced in the title: "Avec de nouveaux desseins de tables". Not in the BnF and not cited by Vicaire, who mentions several earlier and later editions. The title page is dated 1726, but the privilege leaf is dated February 13, 1727, making a total of 2 volumes.
