[Engraving]. [Altar Canon]. DREVET (Pierre), ed. Ecce tabern - Lot 191
[Engraving]. [Altar Canon]. DREVET (Pierre), ed. Ecce tabernaculum Dei cum hominibus. A Paris, chez P. Drevet [et] Nicolas Bonnart, [circa 1700]. A colored copperplate engraving, in three panels (two measuring approx. 44.5 x 21 cm. and the central panel measuring 44.5 x 23 cm. incl. margins), mounted on a fold-out support covered with a contemporary tan calf cover, with gilt roulettes on the inner and outer edges (hinges a little ridged, some rubbing and browning on the engraving). Extremely rare copperplate engraved triptych. An elegantly bound copy in period colors. This type of object, often fatigued by the use of the period, exposure and handling, is rarely found in such a good state of preservation. Date according to the address of Pierre Drevet, established at the sign of the Annunciation around 1703. A Parisian burin engraver and publisher, Pierre Drevet was a pupil of Germain Audran (1631-1710) in Lyon, then, alternately, of Gérard Audran (1640-1703) in Paris; appointed king's engraver in 1696 or 1697, and admitted to the Académie in 1707; father of engraver Pierre-Imbert Drevet (1697-1739), and uncle of engraver Claude Drevet (1697-1781). (Cf. I.F.F. XVIIIe s., t. VII, p. 307 sq.).
