The 1762 engraving of our painting by Simon François Ravenet, in the British Museum, shows the group of mother and child in a stone frame. in a trompe-l'oeil stone frame. An identical composition in pastel sold at Sotheby's London on July 10, 1980, no. 54 (Portrait of Mrs. Louisa Morgan and her daughter) repr. in N. Jefares, A dictionary of pastellists before 1800, p. 459).
